Cast in three connected movements, the work openbs with an extended period of extremely sparse orchestration, gradually gaining mass and momentum to unfold in a blanket of consonant warmth. Mvt. II repeats this architecture, except this time spiraling upward and out of control, until exploding into a relentless, driving final movement.
